OKC storms…

So. If you don’t live in OKC area, you wouldn’t know that we’ve had some storms. This little lightning/thunderstorm kept me awake until 3am… curled up in the fetal position at the bottom of my tent, praying the lightning wouldn’t hit my solar panel & shoot 1.21 gigawatts through the electrical cord to my fan, hence create a small electrical explosion that would light my tent on fire… it was a fun night.

So my co-workers at LifeChurch.tv have never believed tentlife to be a real thing and since I left for vacation this week they decided to “invite themselves over” to try and debunk the tentlife reality… below is their footage and reactions to my rustic diggs. Thank you @tonysteward for a fantastic look and for showing my porta-john to the world.

I’ve spent the last five days and five nights out at TentLife and I must admit… this is going to be hard.

Who would have thought the simple life would be so complicated? I am trying to figure out ways in which to nullify the convenience of electricity, running water and tabletops that HouseLife affords. It is not easy. I have decided that if I get to the tent after dark, it is not worth cooking a meal, as prep-time and clean-up time take time… compounded by the fact that it is dark and things are harder to do in the dark (yes, even with a headlamp), which brings me to the conclusion that I could never live in Antarctica.
